Yokohama Rubber made an important announcement in July regarding the development of a groundbreaking technology capable of efficiently producing isoprene from biomass.
The new technology was developed as a result of the partnership between Yokohama, RIKEN and Zeon Corporation. According to Yokohama, this breakthrough will help reduce the dependence on petroleum and contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Researchers discovered this new isoprene-synthesizing process using computer-generated metabolic design technology.
