The American Endurance Racing weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course may not have turned out as successful as race driver and Yokohama Tire Canada brand ambassador Jean-Sebastien Sauriol had hoped, but the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R summer tires on which his BMW 330i ran proved up to whatever was asked of them.
“The Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R tire gave us a very high level of performance throughout the two races and were very consistent all weekend,” said Sauriol. “It’s a testament to the inherent performance of a summer street tire to be able to handle the rigors and levels of abuse in such a race, and I would like to thank Yokohama Tire Canada for this opportunity.”
The American Endurance Racing series features production-based closed wheel cars required to run on US Department of Transport (US DOT) tires — the same aftermarket performance tires consumers can purchase to put on their everyday drivers.
“As Yokohama’s fastest tire, the Advan Neova AD08R may be ready for the street but it was engineered for the track,” explains Diana Colosimo, Brand Development Manager for Yokohama Tire (Canada). “Its MS Compound 2R improves rigidity and wear resistance, and steel sidewall inserts help resist lateral deflection, ensuring superior handling, improved control and enhanced cornering. Wear and handling are the most important tire requirements in an endurance race, and we knew the Advan Neova AD08R would deliver.”
The AER weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car featured two 8.5-hour races, one each Saturday and Sunday, with five classes of production based cars taking the green flag shortly after sunrise and running until the checkers in late-afternoon each day.
