Hankook concept tires have been chosen for new Volkswagen I.D. Crozz II electric drive concept vehicle.

A new concept tire from Hankook Tire is being showcased on the new I.D. Crozz II electric drive concept vehicle from Volkswagen at the 2017 International Motor Show (IAA 2017) in Frankfurt, Germany.

The anthracite colour of the tire blends in perfectly with the avant-garde design of the vehicle. The colouring is made with a special tread and side wall compound which contains white filler materials. An inlay on the tire side wall adapted to the tire design provides a visual contrast and contributes to the harmonious interplay between wheel and tire.

“We are very pleased to have implemented this project together with Volkswagen,” said Dipl.-Ing. Klaus Krause, head of the Hankook Europe Technical Centre in Hanover. “With the development of electric vehicles, the demands made on tires will change in the future, as well. The rolling noise will play a more major role due to the lack of engine noise, and rolling resistance will have to be reduced even further to cut energy losses.”
