Edmonton location celebrates the completion of its first store makeover in decades.
Edmonton’s West End Tireland is the newest flagship store of the Tireland franchise, after undergoing a complete overhaul of the building both inside and out. The revamped store, which includes an interior renovation, a new roof and a new look exterior, was officially opened to the public on October 20.
The west Edmonton store, which is now owned by Sharon and Garth Hough, has been a family run business since 1974 and hadn’t had a major overhaul like this since it opened. Over the years, the store had operated under the Goodyear and Fountain Tire banners, but it has been a Tireland location for the past 13.
A drastic change
“The interior renovations were extensive and much thought was put into the design in order to make it a welcoming and comfortable environment for customers,” says Sharon. “We have customers come in and they walk right back out and say they must be in the wrong store,” says Garth. “It’s a pretty drastic change after 42 years. It’s so refreshing.”
Paul Hyshka, national sales director of DT Tire, expressed his excitement for the new look and congratulated the owners for their many years of hard work and dedication. “For over 40 years you’ve been a pinnacle in this community and you’ve been an amazing ambassador for our Tireland banner. People come here because they get fantastic service and experience, but it’s the customer experience after that makes them come back,” he said. “You wanted to create an environment that is clean, professional and state-of-the-art. On behalf of the Tireland family, we are very proud to have you as members over the last decade. You’ve worked with us and the brand to build it to the next level.”
An Alberta first!
The Edmonton store is the first in Alberta to get Tireland’s upgraded look, and Hyshka said he was impressed with the new design. “Today is a fantastic showcase of what Tireland of tomorrow will look like in communities across the country. You’re a flagship.”
Andre Touchette, of Tireland’s parent company Groupe Touchette, said he was excited to see the first store completed and was very happy with the new image. The new branding will help all of the Tireland stores grow and be increasingly successful, he said.
Local Edmonton-based race car driver Stefan Rzadzinski, who drives the Tirelandsponsored entry in the Nissan Micra Cup, also expressed his congratulations to the store owners. He said Groupe Touchette has taken him in as a family and after racing the past two seasons with Tireland logos across his car, he was very happy to set foot in the franchise’s new flagship store in his hometown.
