Bridgestone Americas has announced that its two truck and bus radial (TBR) tire manufacturing facilities, in Warren County, Tennessee, and LaVergne, Tennessee, were presented with the 2018 Quality Achievement Award by PACCAR.

As explained by the company, PACCAR recognizes those suppliers that measure up to or exceed its rigorous standard of providing 10 or fewer defective parts for every one million parts supplied to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

Both the victorious facilities have been supplying commercial TBR tires to PACCAR for over 30 years now. PACCAR produces medium and heavy-duty trucks under the brands Peterbilt, Kenworth and DAF.

“It’s so important that we celebrate these quality achievements with our plant employees who are directly responsible for achieving the high standards our customers know and expect from Bridgestone,” says Greg Harris, Executive Director, Commercial Manufacturing, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. “The impact they are having on our customers through the products they manufacture is at the core of our business, and we couldn’t do it without them.”

Both the Warren County and LaVergne plants employ over 1,000 people each. To cater to increasing customer needs and market demand, Bridgestone announced its plans to invest $40 million in its Warren County facility in 2018. The facility has been recognized for its sustainability initiatives and workplace safety programs. The facility earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification in 2008 and was also recognized as an OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star site. The LaVergne facility was recognized for educational and environmental initiatives. It was designated as a Tennessee Green Star Partner and with the Outstanding Achievement in Air Quality Award from the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Additionally, the facility lends its support to local non-profit organizations such as the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.
