On September 14th, Atlas Tire invited a group of Pirelli customers to the Circuit Mont-Tremblant race track for their annual visit with the talented Jim Russell Racing School driving instructors.

This event is an exceptional opportunity for tire-industry professionals to test Pirelli tires in the conditions which have forged their storied reputation. Atlas business associates from across Canada gained firsthand experience as to the performance capabilities of these tires, which have played a key role in Formula 1 Championships, in an ideal racecourse setting.

Although the participants have a common business interest, they also share a strong passion for auto racing. They were treated to a full day behind the wheel of a Van Diemen Spec Formula FR02, the official Jim Russell open-wheel race car.

“This event is our way of thanking our Pirelli clients with whom we share a common passion,” explained Atlas Tire Marketing Manager Renzo Castagna. “Pirelli has partnered with the Jim Russell Racing School at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant for nearly 20 years, and today’s event is the perfect combination of exceptional training and adrenaline-charged driving experience.”

“This event provides an opportunity to gain valuable driving experience, and more importantly, the unique chance to exploit the full potential of the Pirelli tires which are known for their performance both on the road and on the track ” added Renzo Castagna. “We hope this incredible experience will be fondly remembered by our guests for a very long time!”

After hastily donning their race gear, the ten drivers received a condensed theoretical training session presented by chief Jim Russell Driving School trainer, Philippe Létourneau, who is also known as a judge in the television series Canada’s Worst Drivers. Afterwards, the trainees headed straight to the race track, where they drove a few warm-up laps behind the pace vehicle accompanied by trainers, before being let loose on their own.

The 4.26 km Circuit Mont-Tremblant is renowned for its tight corners, which allowed the amateur race drivers to experience firsthand the full range of exceptional performance attributes of the Pirelli tires, whose characteristics they had already fully grasp as installers and retailers.

“Today’s group was comprised of some of our most valued Pirelli clients,” declared Renzo Castagna. “This great event is our way of thanking them, as well as being a unique opportunity to get together and have some fun on the track.”
