The December 2018 issue of CarCare Business is now available online. You can flip through it here, but first, a few words from the Associate Publisher of CarCare Business, Shirley Brown.
Tomorrow
Looking ahead to a new year and new opportunities.
As the end of the year approaches, those of you in business—both Jobber and Service Provider—are thinking ahead to the new year… to tomorrow and beyond as you need to do!
And you’re making new plans. You’re planning how you can change your business (if it needs it), gather new strength, find new business solutions, or maybe even plan your retirement because you have a succession plan in place. These are good plans.
But what if you don’t have any of the above in your mind? What if you don’t know what to plan for, what to do, how you can face the future? How can you face tomorrow?
I’m sure you’re not alone, but you must get your act together and do what needs to be done so your business—not to mention your family—will not suffer. You need to remember why you’re in business, what your dreams are, what your options are, where you want to go, and how and why you want to succeed.
Consult with others
You are the catalyst in your day-to-day business. You are the one those who work for you look up to and rely on. In essence, you are the support for their families as well. And you’re not in it alone. The folks who work for you can help you as well. They can make suggestions, maybe offer new information, recommend new ways of helping the customer. After all, they’re on the front line daily and see what’s happening hour by hour.
They have the customer’s trust, and they have the relationship with the customer. They can help you in your business… but you need to listen to them, discuss their ideas with your other staff and, if plausible, put those suggestions into operation.
If your business isn’t doing as well as you would like, maybe you should ask your staff what they think. Maybe they can help you plan for a better tomorrow!
Finally, at this time, I certainly wish you all the very best in 2019 and all the tomorrows to come!
