On August 28, CARQUEST Auto Parts and WORLDPAC once again hosted their annual Charity Golf Tournament.
Despite threats of inclement weather prior to the event, it ultimately proved a superb day out on the course at the Springfield Golf and Country Club near Guelph, Ont.
Over 156 golfers signed up to play in this year’s tournament and in fact, such were the numbers of people wanting to register that the event quickly sold out!
Also impressive was the $21,000 raised at this year’s event, for the CARQUEST/WORLDPAC Charitable Foundation. The charity supports a whole range of community causes and this year, support focused on Crane Lake Discovery Camp. Located near MacTier, Ont., Crane Lake Discovery Camp was created to provide at-risk boys and young men the chance to learn fundamental life skills within a wilderness setting.
The concept is based on an initiative pioneered by the Salesman Club of Dallas, Texas and not only provides them the opportunity to learn these skills and overcome challenges at home, at school and at work in a camp environment, but also ongoing coaching and mentorship.
