OTC has added five new engine tools to their product line in North America.
The new tools help technicians complete repair and maintenance service jobs on select 4-cylinder engines used in Buick, Cadillac, and Chevrolet vehicles. The tools are all covered by OTC’s lifetime warranty. The new engine tools include:
- 6553 Connecting Rod Guides: The connecting rod guides come in a set of two and are used to protect the crankshaft bearing surface from damage during piston and connecting rod removal or installation. To help prevent nicking or scratching, guides install onto the connecting rod after the cap is removed. The guides are similar to EN-51454 and are for rods with M8 X 1.0 threads.
- 6744 Tensioner Retaining Pin: The tool relieves the tension on the timing chain tensioner for camshaft, actuator, and timing chain service. The pin engages the tensioner arm and moves it forward, disengaging the ratchet mechanism. The pin is similar to EN-50837 and works on 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS, 2014 Cadillac CTS, 2013-2014 Chevrolet Malibu, 2014 Chevrolet Impala and Buick Regal 2.0L and 2.5L engines.
- 6745 Camshaft Actuator Locking Tool: The new locking tool engages the slots in the face of the actuator and bolts to the cylinder head and cover to hold the actuator in position. This allows the tool to remove or install the actuator bolt. The tool is similar to EN-50793; works on 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS, 2014 Cadillac CTS, 2013-2014 Chevrolet Malibu, 2014 Chevrolet Impala and Buick Regal 2.0L and 2.5L engines.
- 6746 Timing Chain Holding Tool: The holding tool retains the timing chain position relative to the crankshaft position. The tool clamps around the timing chain pins on both the intake and exhaust sides of the cylinder head, allowing the cams to be serviced. The tool is similar to EN-50656and is for 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS, 2014 Cadillac CTS, 2013-2014 Chevrolet Malibu, 2014 Chevrolet Impala and Buick Regal 2.0L and 2.5L engines.
- 6758 Front Crank Seal Installer: The tool installs the front crank seal with the cover both on or off the engine. The bolt is threaded into the crankshaft and the nut is tightened to seat the seal. The installer is similar to EN-50820 and EN48034 and works on 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS, 2014 Cadillac CTS, 2013-2014 Chevrolet Malibu, 2014 Chevrolet Impala and Buick Regal 2.0L and 2.5L engines.
