The weekend kicked off on a positive note, with the announcement (Friday, July 13th) that the agreement between Dumoulin Competition and major partner WeatherTech Canada was extended for a further three years, bringing the total duration to ten years. This announcement increased the already great motivation of Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and every member of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team to continue to run in the lead pack, always ready to go for the win.
Louis-Philippe Dumoulin defended his seventh position on the grid all the way through the 35-lap race, taking advantage of some great passes on lap 8 to jump up to fifth place and defend it all the way to the finish. The Quebec driver now shares first place in the 2018 Pinty’s Driver Championship, putting Louis-Philippe Dumoulin in an excellent position for the upcoming three-race Western Tour.
“The win was within reach of my car had I started the race from the front row. My #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car displayed a slight understeer throughout the race, and too-long ratios in first and second gear impeded corner exits and restarts by slightly limiting acceleration. Victory in the Pinty’s Series is an exercise in perfection – nothing else will do – with a little bit of luck thrown in. The race will be broadcast on TSN on Sunday July 21st at 2:30 p.m. and on RDS on Tuesday July 31st at 10:30 p.m.
