One of the striking things people notice when they get in a new car is the amount of computer technology that has been built into them.
Many new cars collect thousands of data points on vehicle diagnostics, driving behaviors, in-car features, and infotainment systems. There is a lot of discussion happening in the industry right now on who owns this data; how is it being used; what regulations are required; and if the data is being monetized. AIA Canada’s fourth and last report in the Consumer Behaviour Series will add to this discussion from the perspective of car owners. Are they aware that their cars generate large amounts of data? Do they know about the data ownership models that are being developed? These are some important questions this report dabbles in, which can help automotive businesses understand their customers better.
