AAPEX 2016 spotlighted the latest technologies in the automotive aftermarket industry by introducing several new programs to keep attendees ahead of the curve.

The event took place Tuesday, Nov. 1, through Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas.

Technology at AAPEX 2016 included:

  • A new Automotive Technology section on the show floor to showcase the newest products and services.
  • New Let’s Tech presentations delivered in 20 minutes or less on emerging vehicle technologies and the latest diagnostic smartphone apps.
  • A dedicated AAPEXedu track on Connected Car Opportunities with sessions on telematics, self-driving cars and the impact of embedded software and copyright law on the aftermarket parts and service industry.
  • A keynote address on cyber security and how businesses can reduce the vulnerabilities of the cyber domain by retired Four-Star General Michael Hayden, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and National Security Agency (NSA).

Technology was also featured during the AVI and the Automotive Service Association (ASA) training offered alongside AAPEX, with sessions on servicing today’s connected cars and advanced-level diagnostics.

As vehicle technology continues to advance, the ability for aftermarket industry professionals to remain at the forefront of these advances becomes ever more critical.

AAPEX 2016 featured 2,259 exhibiting companies, 5,414 booths and 40-plus AAPEXedu sessions. The event drew 43,339-targeted buyers, and approximately 158,000 automotive aftermarket professionals from 140 countries were in Las Vegas during Industry Week 2016.

AAPEX 2017 will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31, through Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas.
