AIA’s Western Innovative Business Series took place at the beautiful Elk Ridge Resort at Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan on September 28th.

Close to 80 industry members had the opportunity to hear Dr. Peter Frise speaking about the future of automotive technology for both suppliers and servicers. Dr. Peter Frise is a professor of Automotive Engineering at the University of Windsor and was the Scientific Director and CEO of AUTO21, a federal Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE) on the future of automotive technology.

Next up was Marty Cobb, Executive Director of the Motor Safety Association a non-government, non-profit organization funded through an operational agreement with the Workers’ Compensation Board. He explained who MSA was, what they did and presented proactive measures employers can take to ensure the safety of their employees. The MSA vision is to achieve the safest possible working environment for all employees in aftermarket industry.

David Chalk, a leading expert in the technology and computer industry for over 30 years presented on cyber security and disruptive technologies that are currently in the market.

The day closed with a motivating presentation from Bob Molle—the only person to win an Olympic medal and a Canadian Football League Grey Cup championship. He focused on leadership and teamwork and the importance of building relationships by sharing his own personal story and experiences in the international sports arena.
