Frantz Saintellemy est ing\u00e9nieur \u00e9lectrique et \u00e0 la t\u00eate de l\u2019entreprise de haute technologie LeddarTech de Qu\u00e9bec. Son entreprise d\u00e9veloppe des capteurs et modules dot\u00e9s de LiDAR permettant de tracer une image tridimensionnelle de l\u2019environnement du v\u00e9hicule.<\/p>\n

Contrairement au Radar qui pulse une onde radio, le LiDAR projette un faisceau lumineux, en l\u2019occurrence un laser invisible, des millions de fois par seconde, pour construire une image pr\u00e9cise des obstacles. Il est plus pr\u00e9cis, offre une plus longue port\u00e9e et demande moins d\u2019\u00e9nergie. Combin\u00e9e aux cam\u00e9ras et aux Radars, cette technologie donne une image beaucoup plus pr\u00e9cise.<\/p>\n

Un ADAS plus performant<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Cette technologie est d\u00e9j\u00e0 commercialis\u00e9e et utilis\u00e9e par des constructeurs automobiles haut de gamme dans la conception de leurs syst\u00e8mes avanc\u00e9s d\u2019aide \u00e0 la conduite (ADAS). \u00ab\u2009L\u2019aide \u00e0 la conduite est l\u2019application la plus int\u00e9ressante pr\u00e9sentement pour cette technologie, explique le pr\u00e9sident de cette PME qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise. Mais nous voyons, dans un avenir rapproch\u00e9, son utilisation dans le d\u00e9veloppement de v\u00e9hicules autonomes.\u2009\u00bb<\/p>\n

Si LeddarTech offre l\u2019image, c\u2019est au constructeur automobile ou \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipementier de l\u2019interpr\u00e9ter et la lier \u00e0 un syst\u00e8me de prise de d\u00e9cision. Le v\u00e9hicule va envoyer une alerte au conducteur ou appliquer les freins d\u2019urgence, par exemple. Et, \u00e0 un autre niveau, pour les v\u00e9hicules enti\u00e8rement autonomes, cette image servira \u00e0 les guider sur le parcours d\u00e9termin\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Cette technologie est encore dispendieuse. Mais la multiplication des applications aura pour effet de la rendre plus accessible.<\/p>\n

Commercial et communautaire autonomes<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u00c0 cause des plusieurs facteurs, notamment la condition des infrastructures, Saintellemy ne croit pas \u00e0 l\u2019arriv\u00e9e si t\u00f4t de la voiture enti\u00e8rement autonome. Non, il pr\u00e9dit plut\u00f4t que c\u2019est du c\u00f4t\u00e9 des v\u00e9hicules commerciaux et communautaires que cette technologie va prendre son essor. \u00ab\u2009Plusieurs projets ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mis sur la glace \u00e0 cause de la pand\u00e9mie, explique-t-il. Mais on parle ici, par exemple, de navettes autonomes pour les a\u00e9roports ou encore de camions lourds circulant d\u2019un entrep\u00f4t \u00e0 un autre ou sur des circuits priv\u00e9s. Je vois aussi des autobus autonomes qui utiliseraient leur propre voie r\u00e9serv\u00e9e. Pour les gestionnaires de parc, la possibilit\u00e9 d\u2019avoir des camions sans conducteur, roulant en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 24 heures sur 24, peut s\u2019av\u00e9rer une solution tr\u00e8s \u00e9conomique.\u2009\u00bb<\/p>\n

Il voit aussi dans la progression de la connectivit\u00e9 des v\u00e9hicules une promesse d\u2019efficacit\u00e9 accrue pour les gestionnaires de parc. \u00ab\u2009Le d\u00e9ploiement d\u2019un r\u00e9seau\u00a05G va faciliter ces communications, pr\u00e9dit-il.
