En 2015, le Qu\u00e9bec comptait \u00e0 peine 5\u2009000\u00a0v\u00e9hicules hybrides et \u00e9lectriques. Aujourd\u2019hui, ce nombre a franchi la barre du 400\u2009000. Les projections \u00e9voquent 1,5\u00a0million d\u2019ici cinq ans et jusqu\u2019\u00e0 trois millions en 2035, soit la moiti\u00e9 du parc automobile de la Belle Province. Pour les ateliers, la question n\u2019est plus de savoir <em>si<\/em> la transition aura lieu, mais bien comment s\u2019y pr\u00e9parer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les le\u00e7ons du pass\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Un retour en arri\u00e8re s\u2019impose pour comprendre l\u2019importance de se moderniser pour survivre et prosp\u00e9rer. L\u2019histoire automobile compte de nombreuses r\u00e9volutions technologiques. \u00ab\u2009Lors de l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des syst\u00e8mes \u00e0 injection ou des ordinateurs de bord, certains garages n\u2019ont pas su s\u2019adapter. Ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 laiss\u00e9s en plan parce qu\u2019ils ne voulaient ou ne pouvaient pas investir dans <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">de <\/span>l\u2019\u00e9quipement de pointe, ou refusaient tout simplement d\u2019apprendre la nouvelle technologie\u2009\u00bb, rappelle M.\u00a0Breton. Le parall\u00e8le avec le passage \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lectrique est \u00e9vident\u00a0: l\u2019atelier qui rejette le concept d\u2019\u00e9volution court \u00e0 sa perte.<\/p>\n<p>Les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9s exigent des comp\u00e9tences sp\u00e9cifiques. En plus d\u2019en comprendre les diverses motorisations (hybride, hybride rechargeable et enti\u00e8rement \u00e9lectrique), les techniciens doivent conna\u00eetre les diff\u00e9rentes batteries pour pouvoir les changer ou les r\u00e9parer. \u00ab\u2009Certaines sont modulables et faciles \u00e0 r\u00e9parer, tandis que d\u2019autres sont beaucoup plus complexes\u2009\u00bb, note-t-il. Et l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de nouvelles technologies et compositions risque de compliquer encore davantage la donne.<\/p>\n<p>En excluant les \u00e9tablissements sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s, M.\u00a0Breton d\u00e9plore que la majorit\u00e9 du personnel qui \u0153uvre dans les ateliers de m\u00e9canique ne soit toujours pas form\u00e9e pour assurer l\u2019entretien ou la r\u00e9paration de VE. \u00ab\u2009Souvent, dans un concessionnaire ou un garage grand public, on va trouver un, peut-\u00eatre deux techniciens certifi\u00e9s. Mais \u00e7a reste une minorit\u00e9. Et \u00e7a, c\u2019est encore un vrai d\u00e9fi.\u2009\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Pour combler ce retard, MEC a mis sur pied le <em>Groupe de travail<\/em> sur la <em>recherche, l\u2019\u00e9ducation, et la formation<\/em>, qui rassemble des coll\u00e8ges et universit\u00e9s de partout au pays. Ces \u00e9tablissements d\u2019enseignement se concertent pour cr\u00e9er ou mettre \u00e0 jour les programmes afin de pr\u00e9parer les futurs techniciens aux r\u00e9alit\u00e9s de l\u2019\u00e9lectrique\u2026 et aux diff\u00e9rences entre marques.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9largir son champ d\u2019expertise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Se cantonner aux moteurs \u00e0 combustion n\u2019est plus aujourd\u2019hui une alternative viable maintient M.\u00a0Breton. Refuser d\u2019embrasser les nouvelles technologies \u00e9quivaut \u00e0 se priver volontairement d\u2019une part de march\u00e9 appel\u00e9e \u00e0 cro\u00eetre consid\u00e9rablement dans les prochaines ann\u00e9es et les prochaines d\u00e9cennies. Il soutient que la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 des ateliers de m\u00e9canique repose sur la formation continue, mais aussi sur la polyvalence, car les motorisations \u00e0 essence et \u00e9lectriques coexisteront encore longtemps.<\/p>\n<p>M. Breton souligne que la transformation technologique ne se limite pas aux groupes motopropulseurs. \u00ab\u2009Faisons abstraction des V\u00c9. Les v\u00e9hicules d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui int\u00e8grent de nombreuses technologies embarqu\u00e9es.\u2009\u00bb Ces derni\u00e8res causent des maux de t\u00eate \u00e0 plusieurs constructeurs traditionnels qui font de la m\u00e9canique depuis des d\u00e9cennies, voire plus d\u2019un si\u00e8cle. S\u2019ils poss\u00e8dent une expertise avec le <em>hardware<\/em>, ils ne ma\u00eetrisent pas encore tout l\u2019aspect <em>software,<\/em> observe le PDG.<\/p>\n<p>Probl\u00e8mes de mises \u00e0 jour, bogues, fonctionnalit\u00e9s capricieuses\u2026 \u00ab\u2009Le c\u00f4t\u00e9 logiciel repr\u00e9sente un \u00e9norme d\u00e9fi pour plusieurs marques et pour ceux qui entretiennent et r\u00e9parent les v\u00e9hicules\u2009\u00bb. Mais pour les ateliers, cet enjeu peut se transformer en opportunit\u00e9, soit attirer une nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de technophiles. Ces jeunes qui ont grandi avec les ordinateurs pourront ainsi exploiter leur expertise en informatique dans le secteur de l\u2019automobile \u00ab\u2009et faire autre chose que juste faire des changements d\u2019huile\u2009\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Le march\u00e9 secondaire a tout int\u00e9r\u00eat \u00e0 se positionner croit M.\u00a0Breton. Miser sur des sp\u00e9cialistes form\u00e9s, c\u2019est non seulement rester comp\u00e9titif, mais aussi devenir une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une industrie en mutation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le passage au v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique ne sonne pas la fin du m\u00e9tier de m\u00e9canicien, il en red\u00e9finit les param\u00e8tres. Une transition r\u00e9ussie passe in\u00e9vitablement par la formation continue et l\u2019int\u00e9gration de nouveaux outils pour ma\u00eetriser les derni\u00e8res technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Ceux qui suivront le mouvement profiteront d\u2019un march\u00e9 en croissance. Les autres, qui refuseront de s\u2019adapter, mettront en p\u00e9ril leur propre existence.<\/p>\n<p>Le mythe du VE sans entretien, lui, doit \u00eatre rang\u00e9 au placard.
