Oublions la belle neige blanche de nos cartes de No\u00ebl et d\u00e9solons-nous de trouver sur la chauss\u00e9e des plaques de glace sournoises, de la neige fondante ou encore un m\u00e9lange de tout \u00e7a agr\u00e9ment\u00e9 d\u2019un assaisonnement de pluie vergla\u00e7ante.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019an dernier, Michelin nous avait demand\u00e9 de mettre \u00e0 l\u2019essai ses pneus d\u2019hiver X-Ice Snow en version pour v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique. (<a href=\"https:\/\/autosphere.ca\/fr\/pneus\/2024\/01\/31\/michelin-propose-le-x-ice-snow-pour-les-vehicules-electriques\/\">https:\/\/autosphere.ca\/fr\/pneus\/2024\/01\/31\/michelin-propose-le-x-ice-snow-pour-les-vehicules-electriques\/<\/a>) Le X-Ice Snow est sur le march\u00e9 depuis quelques ann\u00e9es et ses caract\u00e9ristiques en font un produit populaire aupr\u00e8s des \u00e9lectromobilistes.<\/p>\n<p>Un an et pr\u00e8s de 10 000 kilom\u00e8tres plus tard, ces pneus affrontent un second hiver. Install\u00e9s un peu trop pr\u00e8s de la date limite du 1er d\u00e9cembre, ils \u00e9taient toutefois pr\u00eats pour l\u2019action lors des premi\u00e8res chutes de neige dignes de mention. Attentif au comportement du v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique dans ces nouvelles conditions, l\u2019auteur de ces lignes ne peut juger d\u2019une quelconque perte de traction ou de contr\u00f4le sur la surface comparativement \u00e0 l\u2019hiver pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent. De plus, le pneu reste remarquablement silencieux sur pav\u00e9 sec, m\u00eame \u00e0 haute vitesse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un festival de conditions changeantes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En fait, durant une semaine, le pendule climatique aidant, le pneu a rencontr\u00e9 alternativement de la neige, de la pluie et une surface glac\u00e9e, notamment aux intersections. La p\u00e9riode d\u2019adaptation du conducteur a \u00e9t\u00e9 de toute premi\u00e8re importance, le couple du moteur d\u2019un v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique devant \u00eatre mesur\u00e9 pour correspondre \u00e0 la capacit\u00e9 d\u2019adh\u00e9rence du pneu afin de r\u00e9duire le patinage des roues.<\/p>\n<p>Une erreur de pilotage, d\u00e9coulant de l\u2019apprentissage de la conduite d\u2019un v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique en conditions hivernales, a failli envoyer le journaliste valser dans le d\u00e9cor: l\u2019utilisation du freinage r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ratif \u00e0 sa plus haute intensit\u00e9 n\u2019est assur\u00e9ment pas recommand\u00e9e la nuit, sur une route de montagne sinueuse en partie glac\u00e9e. Le blocage des roues a effac\u00e9 la capacit\u00e9 de diriger la voiture, le temps que le chauffeur se ressaisisse, d\u00e9sactive le freinage r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ratif et reprenne le contr\u00f4le de la situation. Bl\u00e2mons son inexp\u00e9rience plut\u00f4t que les pneus dans cet \u00e9pisode de perte de contr\u00f4le.<\/p>\n<p>Dans une autre exp\u00e9dition, lors d\u2019une abondante chute de neige, la voiture a \u00e9t\u00e9 confront\u00e9e \u00e0 une mont\u00e9e longue et abrupte alors que la chauss\u00e9e, peu fr\u00e9quent\u00e9e, \u00e9tait couverte d\u2019une bonne couche de neige. La traction avant du V\u00c9 a travaill\u00e9 avec d\u00e9termination, activant constamment l\u2019antipatinage et r\u00e9duisant consid\u00e9rablement la vitesse de progression pour surmonter finalement l\u2019obstacle.<\/p>\n<p>On ne peut s\u2019attendre \u00e0 l\u2019impossible d\u2019un pneu d\u2019hiver, qu\u2019il soit neuf ou de retour apr\u00e8s six mois d\u2019entreposage. Mais le X-Ice Snow de Michelin a accompli son travail, garantissant que le v\u00e9hicule se rende \u00e0 bon port, en autant que le conducteur ajuste sa conduite.<\/p>\n<p>Bref, une fois \u00e9tablies les bonnes mesures lors des acc\u00e9l\u00e9rations, des freinages et de la n\u00e9gociation des virages, le conducteur a ressenti la m\u00eame impression de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 que lors du premier hiver d\u2019utilisation de ces pneus con\u00e7us pour nos hivers aux humeurs changeantes.<\/p>\n<p>Nous avons demand\u00e9 \u00e0 Russell Shepherd, directeur des communications techniques chez Michelin, de nous expliquer pourquoi le fabricant de pneus insiste sur la durabilit\u00e9 de son produit.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Chez Michelin, nous avons toujours eu pour mission de fabriquer des pneus qui offrent des performances optimales, quelle que soit la distance parcourue. Le concept \u00ab Performance Made to Last \u00bb de Michelin consiste \u00e0 travailler continuellement pour que nos pneus conservent leurs performances tout au long de leur dur\u00e9e de vie \u00bb, indique M. Shepherd.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9valuer la distance de freinage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les distances de freinage sont reconnues par l&rsquo;ensemble de l&rsquo;industrie comme un bon indicateur pour \u00e9valuer la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des pneus et des voitures. Cependant, ces distances \u00e9voluent avec l&rsquo;usure de la bande de roulement. Par exemple, sur des routes mouill\u00e9es ou couvertes de neige, les distances de freinage peuvent augmenter avec l&rsquo;usure de la bande de roulement. Sa seule profondeur ne suffit pas \u00e0 indiquer les performances, donc le seul moyen d&rsquo;\u00e9valuer le niveau de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des pneus, tout au long de leur dur\u00e9e de vie, est de mesurer les distances de freinage des pneus us\u00e9s sur des routes mouill\u00e9es et enneig\u00e9es. \u00ab Par exemple, le pneu Michelin X-Ice Snow a \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9 et approuv\u00e9 dans les centres d&rsquo;essais nordiques de Michelin, sous les conditions de conduite hivernale extr\u00eames les plus rigoureuses \u00bb, ajoute l\u2019expert.<\/p>\n<p>Avec de nombreuses gammes de pneus, Michelin con\u00e7oit et teste ses produits \u00e0 la fois neufs et us\u00e9s. \u00ab Ces tests nous aident \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper des m\u00e9langes innovants et des designs de bande de roulement qui continuent d&rsquo;offrir des performances m\u00eame lorsque le pneu s&rsquo;use. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Toujours selon M.
