Trois \u00e9l\u00e9ments sont n\u00e9cessaires pour provoquer la corrosion: de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne, de l\u2019eau et un m\u00e9tal, tel que le fer.<\/p>\n<p>En atelier, les m\u00e9taux doivent \u00eatre recouverts le plus rapidement possible une fois qu\u2019ils sont expos\u00e9s, \u00e0 la suite d\u2019un pon\u00e7age par exemple.<\/p>\n<p>Il y a de plus en plus d&rsquo;aluminium pr\u00e9sent dans les v\u00e9hicules modernes. Dans ce cas, la corrosion sera appel\u00e9e oxydation. La r\u00e9action \u00e9lectrochimique sera identique \u00e0 celle du fer, mais se produira en pr\u00e9sence de sel, que nous avons en bonne quantit\u00e9 sur nos routes l\u2019hiver. L\u2019aluminium cherche \u00e0 \u00ab se prot\u00e9ger \u00bb et cr\u00e9e une fine couche d\u2019alumine sur la surface afin de stopper l\u2019oxydation. Lorsqu\u2019on ponce une pi\u00e8ce d\u2019aluminium, le m\u00e9tal devient un argent luisant, mais on peut observer qu\u2019il \u00ab blanchit \u00bb avec le temps. C\u2019est cette couche protectrice qui se cr\u00e9e. L\u2019adh\u00e9sion des rev\u00eatements \u00e0 cette pellicule n\u2019est pas tr\u00e8s bonne ; c\u2019est pourquoi il est imp\u00e9ratif d\u2019appliquer un appr\u00eat sur l\u2019aluminium le plus rapidement possible apr\u00e8s l\u2019avoir ponc\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comment stopper la corrosion ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Une fois la r\u00e9action en cours, il est impossible de stopper la corrosion. Il faut l\u2019enlever compl\u00e8tement des \u00e9l\u00e9ments touch\u00e9s, soit par abrasion, jet de sable (<em>sandblast<\/em>) ou carr\u00e9ment en rempla\u00e7ant les pi\u00e8ces. Selon la Society of Protective Coatings, les co\u00fbts li\u00e9s au traitement de la corrosion s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8vent \u00e0 276 milliards de dollars annuellement \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale.<\/p>\n<p>La pr\u00e9vention est la cl\u00e9. Trois choses sont n\u00e9cessaires pour pr\u00e9venir la corrosion : utiliser des produits de bonne qualit\u00e9 et adapt\u00e9s aux besoins, avoir la formation et l\u2019information, telles les fiches techniques, pour les utiliser ad\u00e9quatement et r\u00e9parer d\u00e8s que possible tout d\u00e9faut visible li\u00e9 \u00e0 la corrosion, suivant les recommandations du manufacturier avant que le probl\u00e8me ne prenne de l\u2019expansion.<\/p>\n<p>Les appr\u00eats avec des r\u00e9sines \u00e9poxydes sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement sugg\u00e9r\u00e9s afin d\u2019offrir la meilleure protection contre la corrosion. Leur excellente adh\u00e9sion aide \u00e0 \u00e9liminer le risque de formation d\u2019humidit\u00e9 entre celui-ci et le m\u00e9tal. De plus, les pigments utilis\u00e9s dans ces derniers, tels que le zinc par exemple, offrent une protection suppl\u00e9mentaire au m\u00e9tal. Il existe des produits ur\u00e9thanes (appr\u00eats ou couches de finition) sur le march\u00e9 qui sont d\u00e9sign\u00e9s comme applicables directement sur le m\u00e9tal, mais il faut comprendre que ces produits n\u2019offrent pas le m\u00eame degr\u00e9 de protection que les \u00e9poxydes.
