{"id":403735,"date":"2024-01-30T17:30:55","date_gmt":"2024-01-30T22:30:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosphere.ca\/?p=403735"},"modified":"2024-01-30T17:30:55","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T22:30:55","slug":"michel-labonte-un-parcours-suprenant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/autosphere.ca\/fr\/carrosserie\/2024\/01\/30\/michel-labonte-un-parcours-suprenant\/","title":{"rendered":"Michel Labont\u00e9 : Un parcours suprenant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>En 70 ans, l\u2019automobile aura connu trois grandes r\u00e9volutions qui, pour certains carrossiers, n&rsquo;ont aucun secret. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Avant l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques dits utilitaires, chers et bourr\u00e9s de technologies, l&rsquo;auto est pass\u00e9e depuis 1950 d&rsquo;utile \u00e0 gigantesque puis, jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 r\u00e9cemment, \u00e0 un bien indispensable et abordable.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque le carrossier Michel Labont\u00e9 a vu le jour au coeur du Centre-Sud de Montr\u00e9al, rue De Champlain, la nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration des voitures des ann\u00e9es\u00a050 venait de faire son apparition.<\/p>\n<p>Fait historique : en 1956, deux ans apr\u00e8s sa naissance, Claude Despatie cr\u00e9ait le premier atelier Mr\u00a0Muffler \u00e0 quelques rues de l\u00e0, sur Amherst, alors que tramways et trolleybus tenaient encore le haut du pav\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>L\u2019\u00e8re de la beaut\u00e9<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Or, la m\u00e9tamorphose des Chrysler, Monarch, DeSoto, Lincoln, Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Ford, Corvette, Thunderbird et Studebaker allait bient\u00f4t exercer un effet d\u00e9terminant sur les choix de carri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>Comme nombre de jeunes fascin\u00e9s par la beaut\u00e9 et la dimension de ces v\u00e9hicules qui faisaient r\u00eaver autant qu\u2019ils \u00e9taient inabordables \u00e0 la classe moyenne, Michel choisit la m\u00e9canique.<\/p>\n<p>S\u2019\u00e9tant auparavant initi\u00e9 \u00e0 la carrosserie en travaillant durant l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 chez Major Autobody, et voulant de nature en savoir toujours plus, il a fait tout le contraire de l\u2019\u00e9cole buissonni\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que mordu de remontage des moteurs, c\u2019est en carrosserie qu&rsquo;on le retrouvait presque quotidiennement apr\u00e8s ses cours, au gr\u00e9 de son horaire de fait, mais \u00e0 titre \u00ab\u2009d\u2019observateur\u2009\u00bb\u2009!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Les attraits des gigantesques et rutilantes voitures des ann\u00e9es 50 et 60 ont suscit\u00e9 une rel\u00e8ve \u00e0 faire envie, soutient Michel Labont\u00e9.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>L\u2019ABC de l\u2019automatisation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Pourtant, lorsqu\u2019il a quitt\u00e9 le Campus Pont-Viau en \u00e9tant bien initi\u00e9 \u00e0 ces m\u00e9tiers, c\u2019est \u00e0 l\u2019usine de rechapage de Firestone situ\u00e9e \u00e0 Mont-Royal qu\u2019il obtient son premier emploi.<\/p>\n<p>La production se faisant sur 24 heures et le travail \u00e9tant r\u00e9p\u00e9titif, il n\u2019y sera que quelques mois. C\u2019est cependant l\u00e0 qu\u2019il d\u00e9couvrira l\u2019ABC de la fabrication automatis\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00eame s\u2019il n\u2019y avait grosso modo que 3 dimensions de pneus \u2014 13, 14 et 15 pouces \u2014 le ressemelage se faisait automatiquement par des cartes perfor\u00e9es comprenant les sp\u00e9cifications de chaque fabricant.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Les options \u00e0 installer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u00c0 18 ans, Michel Labont\u00e9 revient donc \u00e0 sa passion pour l\u2019automobile en y entrant pour 8 ans par la porte de Laval Chrysler Plymouth\u2026 et \u00e0 l\u2019enseigne d&rsquo;une polyvalence toute particuli\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>De laveur, pr\u00e9parateur, m\u00e9canicien et contrema\u00eetre au Service de la carrosserie, c\u2019est finalement au poste de Responsable de la pr\u00e9paration des voitures neuves qu\u2019il enrichira son CV d&rsquo;une exp\u00e9rience particuli\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019\u00e9tait au temps o\u00f9 on r\u00e9glait les moteurs avant livraison et installait les options sur place, dit-il\u00a0: d\u00e9givreur, radio, antennes, climatiseur, servodirection, servofrein et clignotants entre autres.<\/p>\n<p>Ainsi a-t-il connu les dessous des produits de marques nord-am\u00e9ricaines, dont ceux des Duster, Dart et Demon, ou encore des camionnettes Dodge RAM\u00a0B100 et B200, anc\u00eatres des RAM\u00a01500, 2500 et 3500.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>La carrosserie l&#8217;emporte<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Fort de son exp\u00e9rience de contrema\u00eetre en carrosserie, Michel sera ensuite g\u00e9rant du Centre d\u2019estimation Duvernay, dirigera Allaire Auto, propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de Pi\u00e8ces d&rsquo;auto C.G.N. et cr\u00e9era sa propre entreprise en 1993.<\/p>\n<p>Dirigeant depuis d\u00e9j\u00e0 30 ans l\u2019atelier CarrXpert de L\u2019Allier Honda 40\/640 sous le nom de Gestion Michel Labont\u00e9, il est fier de ses choix de carri\u00e8re, m\u00eame s&rsquo;il avait d&rsquo;abord song\u00e9 \u00e0 devenir policier ou comptable.<\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9nominateur commun en aura s\u00fbrement \u00e9t\u00e9 ce go\u00fbt de l&rsquo;accomplissement et de la rigueur d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;adolescence en coupant les pelouses, astiquant des galeries, ou en \u00e9tant assistant-laitier, dit-il.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>C\u00e9g\u00e9pien \u00e0 la carte<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Suivant par ailleurs le dicton \u00ab\u2009Qui veut la fin veut les moyens\u2009\u00bb, Michel Labont\u00e9 n\u2019a en outre jamais h\u00e9sit\u00e9 \u00e0 retourner sur les bancs d\u2019\u00e9cole pour atteindre ses objectifs, y compris en gestion.<\/p>\n<p>Ainsi a-t-il \u00e9tudi\u00e9 au c\u00e9gep pour conna\u00eetre l\u2019essentiel de ces quatre disciplines n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la r\u00e9ussite en affaires\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Administration<\/li>\n<li>Comptabilit\u00e9<\/li>\n<li>Droit des affaires<\/li>\n<li>Ressources humaines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Son seul regret en plus de 50 ans de carri\u00e8re est de constater que les v\u00e9hicules d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui n\u2019ont plus cette beaut\u00e9 et ces moteurs rugissants qui attiraient des foules de jeunes vers les m\u00e9tiers de l\u2019automobile.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>En 70 ans, l\u2019automobile aura connu trois grandes r\u00e9volutions qui, pour certains carrossiers, n&rsquo;ont aucun secret.
