Un moteur 100% \u00e9lectrique ne produit aucune \u00e9mission. Voil\u00e0, un v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 z\u00e9ro \u00e9mission, mais pas un v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 z\u00e9ro impact sur l&rsquo;environnement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Volvo Cars, qui pr\u00e9voit d&rsquo;\u00eatre enti\u00e8rement \u00e9lectrique d&rsquo;ici 2030, produit des versions ICE et V\u00c9B du m\u00eame mod\u00e8le, le SUV XC40. Volvo Cars a publi\u00e9 un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.volvocars.com\/images\/v\/-\/media\/project\/contentplatform\/data\/media\/my23\/xc40-electric-light\/volvo-cars-LCA-report-xc40.pdf\">rapport<\/a> d\u00e9taill\u00e9 comparant l&#8217;empreinte carbone des deux versions. Les param\u00e8tres de l&#8217;empreinte carbone comprennent toutes les \u00e9missions li\u00e9es \u00e0 la fabrication et au fonctionnement du v\u00e9hicule jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 200 000 km.<\/p>\n<p>La fabrication d&rsquo;un V\u00c9 n\u00e9cessite presque six fois la quantit\u00e9 de min\u00e9raux utilis\u00e9s dans la fabrication d&rsquo;un v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 moteur \u00e0 combustion interne. L&rsquo;extraction, le raffinage et le traitement de ces min\u00e9raux, ainsi que la fabrication des batteries, g\u00e9n\u00e8rent une \u00e9norme empreinte carbone. La production d&rsquo;un V\u00c9 est un processus polluant, bien plus polluant que la production d&rsquo;un v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 moteur \u00e0 combustion interne. Un V\u00c9 commence sa vie avec une empreinte carbone bien plus importante qu&rsquo;un v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 moteur \u00e0 combustion interne.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Trois normes<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Une fois en service, un V\u00c9 a besoin d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 pour recharger ses batteries. L&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 \u00e9tant produite par diverses m\u00e9thodes, le rapport a utilis\u00e9 trois normes pour tenir compte des diff\u00e9rentes sources. Certaines sources sont aliment\u00e9es par du p\u00e9trole, du gaz ou du charbon, et le seront encore pendant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es. L&rsquo;Inde et la Chine d\u00e9pendent fortement du charbon pour alimenter leurs centrales \u00e9lectriques et construisent de nouvelles centrales au charbon au moment o\u00f9 j&rsquo;\u00e9cris cet article.<\/p>\n<p>Ici, j&rsquo;utiliserai la norme de l&rsquo;UE28, bas\u00e9e sur le mix \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique plus propre de l&rsquo;Union europ\u00e9enne. Ceci est plus proche de la norme canadienne.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 qu&rsquo;un V\u00c9 commence sa vie op\u00e9rationnelle avec une empreinte carbone plus importante qu&rsquo;un v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 moteur \u00e0 combustion interne et que l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaire pour le faire fonctionner g\u00e9n\u00e8re \u00e9galement une empreinte carbone, Volvo Cars a d\u00e9termin\u00e9 le seuil de rentabilit\u00e9 o\u00f9 l&#8217;empreinte carbone du V\u00c9 correspond \u00e0 celle d&rsquo;un v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 moteur \u00e0 combustion interne. Ce point d&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre pour le XC40, selon la norme EU28, se situe \u00e0 84 000 km. Jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 84 000 km, l&#8217;empreinte carbone de la version EV est sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle de la version ICE.<\/p>\n<p>Les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkinsure.ca\/insurance-help-centre\/average-km-per-year-canada.html#:~:text=Here%20is%20the%20typical%20annual,Ontario%20%3A%2016%2C000%20km\">donn\u00e9es<\/a> du secteur de l&rsquo;assurance et du gouvernement montrent que le Canadien moyen parcourt moins de 20 000 km par an. Ainsi, au Canada, il faudra plus de quatre ans pour que l&#8217;empreinte carbone d&rsquo;un V\u00c9 soit \u00e9quivalente \u00e0 celle d&rsquo;un v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 moteur \u00e0 combustion interne similaire.<\/p>\n<p>Il est important de noter qu&rsquo;en utilisant la norme mondiale applicable \u00e0 l&rsquo;Inde, \u00e0 la Chine et \u00e0 de nombreux autres pays, le seuil de rentabilit\u00e9 est repouss\u00e9 \u00e0 146 000 km.<\/p>\n<p>En d\u00e9pit de ces aspects n\u00e9gatifs, Volvo Cars ne fait pas marche arri\u00e8re dans son projet de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques. Cependant, de nouvelles innovations et de nouvelles d\u00e9couvertes sont n\u00e9cessaires pour rapprocher les \u00e9missions z\u00e9ro de l&rsquo;impact z\u00e9ro. Malheureusement, nombre d&rsquo;entre elles ne se concr\u00e9tiseront pas et\/ou ne seront pas viables d&rsquo;ici 2030. Inversement, \u00e0 mesure que les ventes de V\u00c9 augmentent, il deviendra plus difficile de r\u00e9duire l&rsquo;\u00e9cart entre les \u00e9missions z\u00e9ro et l&rsquo;impact z\u00e9ro.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Increasing mineral supply<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Avec la croissance de la demande de batteries pour v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques, il est urgent d&rsquo;augmenter rapidement l&rsquo;offre de min\u00e9raux. L&rsquo;extraction de ces min\u00e9raux est un processus polluant dont l&#8217;empreinte carbone est \u00e9norme et qui va cro\u00eetre de mani\u00e8re exponentielle.<\/p>\n<p>La Chine occupe une position dominante dans l&rsquo;extraction, le raffinage et le traitement de nombreux min\u00e9raux n\u00e9cessaires aux V\u00c9, ainsi que dans la fabrication de batteries pour V\u00c9.
