Nissan and EVgo will be installing 200 new 100kW DC fast-charging stations across the United States.

The joint investment by both Nissan and EVgo expands on the original six-year partnership between the two companies to deliver new charging stations. Since 2010, Nissan has installed over 2,000 quick charge connections across the country. Their new fast-charging stations will use CHAdeMO and CCS connectors to increase the number of EVs that will benefit from them.

“Nissan is proud to have partnered with EVgo to build the largest public EV fast-charging network in the U.S.,” said Aditya Jairaj, Director, EV Sales, and Marketing, Nissan North America. “Given the tremendous driver response to the 2019 long-range1 all-electric LEAF, Nissan and EVgo will accelerate fast charging by committing to a multi-year charger construction program that will continue to expand fast-charging options for EV drivers across the country.”

The two companies will also co-market to increase the awareness of these EV initiatives and chargers amongst drivers who are considering going electric. This marketing effort involves highlighting the Nissan LEAF PLUS, with its 363km, fast-charging capabilities. Since its release, Nissan has sold more than 400,000 LEAF vehicles worldwide. The marketing effort also includes the EVgo network of over 1,200 public fast chargers across the country.

“EVgo is thrilled to expand our six-year partnership with Nissan to provide convenient and reliable fast charging to EV drivers, including Nissan LEAF drivers, on the nation’s largest and most reliable public network,” said Cathy Zoi, Chief Executive Officer, EVgo. “This new phase of our partnership means that EVgo and Nissan will continue to lead in enabling more American drivers to take advantage of the benefits of electric vehicles.”

To date, Nissan has invested over $60 million in charging infrastructure for all kinds of electric vehicles.
