‘Built Ford Tough’ continues its development on the all-electric F-150.

Linda Zhang, Chief Engineer of the Ford-150 recently tested the towing capability of an all-electric prototype using forty-two 2019-model year F-150s that were placed inside 10 double-decker rail cars. The prototype was able to tow the combined weight of the two, which was around one million pounds.

Ford confirmed that it will bring an all-electric F-150 to market alongside a new F-150 Hybrid the goes on sale next year.

Ted Cannis, Ford’s Global Director of Electrification, commented on his Medium blog: “At Ford, our electrification plan is simple: play to our strengths and build on our iconic nameplates. To do that, we will leverage the unique qualities of full battery electric vehicles to amplify the attributes our customers love and value—capability, performance and leading technology. Ford trucks provide the global backbone of work, built on a foundation of toughness. And it is time to take tough to the next level.”
