Chevrolet’s new Silverado is said to be the strongest, most advanced Silverado to date, with new features, transmissions, and advanced technologies.

The new Silverado boasts several new features that include the new transmission, trims, trailering features, and technologies like the Adaptive Cruise Control – Camera.

“In today’s truck market, customers continually demand more features, more technology, and more capability,” said Tim Herrick, Executive Chief Engineer of Full-Size Trucks. “For 2020, we are delivering more in each of these areas. As a result, the Silverado now offers customers the most towing capability of any light-duty pickup and the most affordable light-duty truck with more than 400 horsepower.”

New engines for RST models

The 2020 Silverado’s trim levels will be available with the 6.2L V-8 with an SAE certified 420 hp, 460 lb-ft of torque, and a 10-speed automatic transmission, which is also available on RST models equipped with four-wheel drive. This increases the maximum towing capability of the Silverado to 13,400 lbs when properly equipped.

For the Custom Trail Boss and the LT Trail Boss, that power is paired with a 2-inch factory suspension lift and a Z71 Off-Road Package, which includes locking rear differential, skid plates, rancho mono-tube off-road shocks, 18-inch wheels, and Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.

When bought with a Performance Upgrade Package that adds a performance air intake and cat-back performance exhaust system, the Silverado 6.2L will generate 435 hp and 469 lb-ft of torque.

Propulsion upgrades

Available on the LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country models, the 3.0L Duramax diesel delivers an SAE certified 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, with 95% of that torque arriving at just 1,250 rpm, peaking at 1,500 rpm, and sustained to 3,000 rpm.

The LT Trail Boss comes with a 5.3L V-8 with Dynamic Fuel Management and a 10-speed automatic transmission on the High Country trim, providing a smooth and satisfying driving experience.

The 2020 Silverado Custom will also be available with the 2.7L Turbo combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Trailering technologies

The 2020 Silverado will have the same expanded towing technologies that are available on the 2020 Silverado HD, alongside 15 unique camera views – like the tailgate-mounted camera and accessory camera mounted in the rear – for a safer and more convenient trailering experience.

Additionally, the Adaptive Cruise Control – Camera system features a single-mounted camera behind the rearview mirror that scans the road and, using software and algorithms, maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front. This feature is available on the LT, LTZ, and High Country,

Lastly, the smart trailer technology features the iN-Command Control System from ASA Electronics that can be accessed through the myChevrolet mobile app or the in-vehicle trailering app on the vehicle’s infotainment system, both with Android and IOS device compatibility.
