Enterprise Holdings is launching the car-rental industry’s first Subscription Service.
Enterprise Holdings, which manages the largest and most diverse privately-owned fleet in the world, announced the launch of U.S. car-rental subscription services–called Subscribe with Enterprise–in Minnesota, Missouri, and Nevada.
“We’re starting out in just three states to make sure we have enough time to develop a deep understanding of the subscription process and consumer preferences,” said Randal Narike, Executive Vice President of Operations for Enterprise Holdings.
Mobility as a Service
Under the new service, a monthly fee allows customers to choose from over 20 different vehicle makes and models and six different classes, including full-size and premium sedans, small and mid-sized SUVs, and light duty trucks. Subscribers will also be able to swap out their vehicle up to four times in just one month, but the subscription services will ask for a minimum commitment of only two full calendar months.
“Our new vehicle-subscription service will offer consumers another innovative mobility alternative, without the long-term financial burden or commitment typically associated with traditional leases or purchases,” said Narike.
Vehicles can be tailored to meet specific customer need, providing up to 4,828 km per month–higher than the limit for most leases–with the service offering a transportation option that incorporates physical damage and liability coverage, maintenance, registration, roadside assistance and Sirius radio (when available).
Customers can apply to enroll online by selecting the participating state and, once approved, will receive an enrollment confirmation email containing a Subscriber ID and phone number for the dedicated “concierge” line. Customers can then call to complete their first vehicle reservation.
“Consumers have asked us for long-term rental options that offer a new level of flexibility for when they need a sedan, an SUV or even a truck,” noted Narike. “This service expands on our commitment to provide customers with innovative mobility alternatives that meet them where they live and work.”
Subscribe with Enterprise is another tool that falls under the growing trend of “Mobility as a Service” (MaaS). The company has a network of more than 5,800 Enterprise-branded rental locations throughout the U.S. and provided a wide range of local transportation solutions for than 60 years. It is now strategically positioned to offer access to a wide variety of options, including Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Enterprise CarShare, Enterprise Truck Rental, Commute with Enterprise, Zimride by Enterprise and Enterprise Fleet Management.
Additionally, Enterprise Holdings is already a member of the “Mobility as a Service” (MaaS) Alliance in Europe–a public-private partnership focused on creating a common approach to Maas and facilitating a single, open-market and full deployment of MaaS services.
“How is Enterprise able to thrive in such a complex and competitive marketplace? Because we know how to connect the dots and deliver the kind of transportation service that customers are looking for and expect today,” added Narike. “A one-size-fits-all approach just doesn’t work anymore.”
