The Volvo XC40 became the first SUV to be named New Company Car of the Year at the Fleet News Awards.

The 2019 Fleet News Awards honour excellence, innovation, and quality across the fleet industry. This year the Volvo XC40 was named New Company Car of the Year.

Stephen Briers, Editor, Fleet News said: “The XC40’s adaptability made it a winner for the fleet decision-makers voting for the New Company Car category. It was noted as being compact enough for city driving and car parks, while also being quiet and refined during motorway driving, delivering excellent visibility, driver-focused layout and great comfort throughout.”

The Volvo XC40 comes equipped with advanced technology and Pilot Assist driver assistance, including adaptive cruise control, rear-crossing traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and 360-degree camera system.

Other features include a voice-control system, the Volvo On Call connected services platform, automatic LED headlights with high active beam, a Sensus nine-inch touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch TFT driver’s information display. The SUV also comes in the Momentum, R-design, and Inscription models.

In 2018, the XC40 achieved a maximum five-star rating when tested by the independent vehicle safety organization Euro NCAP.

Steve Beattie, Head of Business Sales, Volvo Car UK, commented: “The XC40 has won multiple awards since launch, but to win a coveted Fleet News award is proof of its shining qualities as a company car. To have been chosen in a category exclusively voted for by fleet decision-makers means the win is particularly valuable and confirms we are delivering the right combination of style, comfort, practicality, and safety.”
