New F-Series Pickups boasts improved capability, power, and technology.
Ford recently took the wraps off the new 2020 S-Series Super Duty pickups, which will be coming to market in late 2019.
“This is a big year for Ford,” said Kumar Galhotra, Ford Group Vice-President of North America, adding that the company will be shifting investments this year to focus more on trucks and utility. More than a million F-Series trucks were sold in North America in 2018 (F-150 to F-550), with the Canadian share at 145,694.
“The new Super Duty has more power, payload, towing capability, and better technology than ever,” Galhotra added, although specific figures will be available closer to the launch date.
The 2020 Super Duty will be available with three engine options, including an all-new 7.3L gas-poweredV8(available with CNG conversion). A third-generation 6.7L diesel will also be offered, complete with a new fuel injection system and new turbo design. The entry-level engine will be the 6.2L gas-powered V8 that’s currently available.
An all-new 10-speed automatic transmission features a wider gear ratio span, and enhanced drive modes, including snow and ice, tow and haul, normal, and eco. It will be available with all engine options.
Technology
Every new 2020 Super Duty will come with a Ford Pass Connect embedded 4G LTE modem, offering Wi-Fi access for up to 10 devices. Ford is also offering Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Reverse Guidance technologies, making it easier for drivers to negotiate tight spaces with a trailer.
To keep drivers as safe as possible while on the road, Ford is offering safety technologies like lane-keeping alert, a blind spot warning system (with trailer coverage monitors), pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection—all standard on XLT and above Super Duty models.
Numerous other upgrades are also part of the package. More details will be available later this year.
