Kia, Hyundai Plan for EV Future

Innovative technology combines EV charging with autonomous driving.

The Kia Motors Corporation and the Hyundai Motor Company are working on a technology that will allow electric autonomous vehicles to drive themselves to a charger, charge their batteries to full, and then move out of the way to make room for the next EV that needs charging.

Once charged, the vehicle will relocate to another vacant parking space, and when the driver calls for the vehicle, it will autonomously return to the location of the driver.

Kia and Hyundai are considering commercializing the technology upon the launch of a level 4 autonomous vehicle around 2025.
