First-ever plug-in from Subaru to arrive in Canada for 2020 model year.

Subaru Canada says the brand’s first-ever plug-in hybrid will be based on the 2020 Crosstrek, and will be able to drive in one of three modes: as a conventional hybrid vehicle, using both electric and gas power, or on pure electric power..

“Our dealers and customers have asked for a vehicle like this and we listened,” said Subaru Canada President, Chairman and CEO Yasushi Enami. “We’re excited to expand our well-rounded lineup with an alternative powertrain vehicle that offers the benefits of electrification without the hassle of range anxiety.”

Arriving at Subaru dealers near the end of next year, the 2020 Crosstrek-based plug-in hybrid will also feature unique styling. More details to come…
