Sportier, safer and more connected than ever, the 5th-generation Kia Forte Sedan was recently introduced to Canadian automotive journalists.

After the official presentation, Kia treated journalists to a first-drive event from Ottawa to Mont-Tremblant, including a stop in Montebello, Quebec. Not only were we able to experience the new Forte Sedan’s stellar comfort and handling, impressive fuel-economy is also part of the new package. Thanks to the first-ever Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) developed by Kia engineers, the new sedan delivers a 17% increase in fuel savings over the 2018 edition, according to Kia., with fuel economy ratings of 5.9 L/100 km highway and 7.7 L/100 km city.

“Fleet customers will benefit from a practical, economical vehicle which is sure to please leasing companies and government agencies,” explains Kia Canada training Director, Réjean Furoy.

On the technology front, the Forte Sedan is marketed as both a connected and safe vehicle, with features including forward collision alert and braking, active lane-keeping assist, and rear-view camera in the $20,995 EX edition. The 2019 model is also available with a self-opening trunk which activates when the driver faces it with intelligent key fob in tow.

The 2019 Kia Forte Sedan starts at $16,495. It is positioned in the very competitive compact sedan segment, contending squarely with the likes of the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra.
