Blind spot warning system includes trailer coverage.
Ford has announced that the all-new 2019 Ford Ranger, which will be available later this year, will be available with a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) that not only warns the driver of a vehicle in his blind spot, but in the trailer’s blind spot as well.
This is possible, because radar housed in the Ranger’s taillights monitors blind spots all the way to the back of the trailer. The system keeps drivers informed of the presence of a vehicle in the truck’s blind spots until that vehicle passes.
To assure that the technology works as accurately as possible, the driver can store up to three trailer profiles, specifying each trailer’s length, to let the radar system know how far back to monitor nearby traffic.
