The Honda Accord and Chrysler Pacifica have respectively been awarded the 2018 Canadian Car of the Year and 2018 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).

Both vehicles received these distinctions at this year’s Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto. The event caps off an entire year of road testing, including two rounds of voting by close to 100 AJAC members. Canadian automotive journalists evaluated these vehicles by driving them for extended periods across all of Canada while submitting them to wide a variety of conditions.

Each model was anonymously scored on various criteria including performance, equipment, technology, design, fuel economy and value. Vehicles obtaining the highest scores receive the top distinction in their respective categories.

The last step is determined by AJAC members, who vote for the 14 finalists in order to determine the overall winner in both car and utility vehicle categories. The second round of voting focused on more subjective characteristics, including comfort, functionality and overall practicality.
