Up to $7,500 available for level 2 chargers.

Ontario has announced plans to support employers and commercial building owners who wish to offer electric vehicle charging for their employees or tenants by helping with the cost of installing charging stations.

The Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging Incentive Program will provide 80 per cent of the capital costs to install level 2 chargers, up to $7,500 per charging space.

Applications are being accepted as of Jan. 16, 2018, and will be reviewed and processed until the program funding is exhausted.

“Charging stations at workplaces will make it easier for people to choose electric vehicles and is one of the many ways we’re taking action to reduce harmful greenhouse gas pollution from transportation – the largest source of emissions in Ontario,” said Chris Ballard, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change. “This investment demonstrates how our Climate Change Action Plan and the carbon market are working together to help our province meet its short and long-term emission reduction targets.”
