The Italian brand begins to modernize their Modena plant, as they reflect on over a century in business.
Maserati was founded in Bologna, Italy on Dec. 1, 1914 when Alfieri Maserati in partnership with his brothers Ettore and Ernesto opened the “Alfieri Maserati” in the heart of Bologna.
The first car to bear Maserati’s Trident logo was built in 1926. It was the Tipo 26, a race car that debuted at the Targa Florio that same year. Maserati remained in Bologna until 1939 when the Brand was purchased by the Orsi family, who transferred operations to Modena, Italy
Today, the Modena plant is still producing cars sold in more than 70 markets. In fact, production of the brand’s new super sports car is scheduled to start at the plant in 2020. Look for a major debut from the brand in May 2020.
