The 2019 New York International Auto Show attracted in large crowds.

The New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo and actor-comedian Tracy Morgan kicked off the 2019 New York International Auto Show, which was held from April 19 to April 28 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre in New York, U.S.

During the opening of the event, Cuomo honoured U.S. Marine veteran Corporal Olivier Bagley, wounded in Operation Iraqi Freedom, with the donation of a 2019 Toyota RAV4. Cuomo also announced the creation of an Automotive Technician Task Force, to develop programs for training auto technicians and enable those participants to transition directly into the automotive industry.

Other entertainers included Sgt. Jeremy Gaynor, former voice contestant, West Point band, and Anna Eilinsfeld, a Broadway star from Pretty Woman the Musical.

Following the opening of the event, the World Car Awards began, where automobiles, selected by a jury of 86 prominent international automotive journalists from 24 countries around the world, were given awards based on innovation, leadership, and excellence. Some of the awards that were handed out were the 2019 World Luxury Car, 2019 World Green Car of the Year, 2019 World Car Design of the Year, 2019 World Performance Car, and 2019 World Car of the Year.
