The top three finalists were announced for the Canadian Green Car of the Year and the Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).
To enter into the 2019 Canadian Car of the Year awards program, admissions for the two categories will have to meet standard requirements and satisfy additional criteria for fuel efficiency based on the entry’s size, powertrain, and purpose.
For 2019 Canadian Green Car of the Year, the finalists are:
- Honda Clarity PHEV,
- Honda Insight, and
- Nissan Leaf.
For 2019 Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year, the finalists are:
- Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, which won its category as Best EV in Canada for 2019,
- Jaguar I-PACE, the 2019 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year and Best Premium EV in Canada for 2019, and
- Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
“The Canadian Green Car of the Year and Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year selection process sets the most fuel-efficient and eco-friendly vehicles apart from the rest of the automotive marketplace,” says Mark Richardson, President of AJAC. “Canadians who value great driving dynamics and low emissions can look to these finalists and the overall winners as being, in the opinion of AJAC journalists, the best choices in our market for what they need and want in their next vehicle.”
AJAC has spent months evaluating the entries on different road surfaces and road conditions throughout the year and during AJAC’s autumn Test Fest event.
They will announce the winners during media day for the Vancouver International Auto Show on Tuesday, March 19.
