Matthew Crossan has become a full-time employee with Renault F1 Team as a Simulation Development Engineer in the team’s Vehicle Performance Group.
Crossan did his post-secondary schooling at Western University in London, Ontario, with a focus on mechanical and materials engineering, and has now completed his one-year internship with INFINITI and Renault F1 Team.
During his internship, Crossan helped with analyzing live data coming from the racecar and improving the performance of the vehicle, providing recommendations to assist the team. He also had an opportunity to help improve ride and passenger comfort over road irregularities, such as potholes and bumps.
“It has always been my dream to work on a motorsport team as an engineer. I am so happy I got the opportunity thanks to INFINITI’s incredible program that gives young engineers like me the chance to live their dream,” said Crossan.
His new position “within the team will be to improve and develop the simulation tools to ensure optimum performance output from the car” which will “allow future ideas [to] later develop.”

As of January 22nd, registration for the 2019 INFINITI Engineering Academy opened for its fourth consecutive year in Canada. The program will select one talented Canadian engineer, alongside six other winners from six different regions, to work with both INFINITI Motor Company and Renault F1 Team.
