In an official statement from The Trillium Automobile Dealers Association, Executive Director Todd Bourgon said; “TADA extends its congratulations to Premier-elect Doug Ford and the Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) Party on forming the next Government of Ontario.”

Bourgon went on to say that, “we also thank every candidate of every party for putting their name on the ballot. We understand the personal and professional sacrifice candidates make when they decide to run for office.”

With a majority government mandate, Bourgon said that Ontario’s new car dealers look forward to working with Premier-elect Ford and his administration over the next four years. As the Ontario PCs begin to transition to government, the TADA said it will prepare itself to hit the ground running once the Ontario Legislature resumes and continue lobbying on issues including:

  • Allowing auto dealers to electronically register and license the vehicles they sell, rather than physically bringing paperwork back and forth to a licensing office
  • Eliminating the Drive Clean Program
  • Reducing red tape and the cost of doing business in Ontario
  • Making electric vehicle rebate payments quicker and more efficient; and
  • Capturing advertisements placed by automobile manufacturers under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act

“We very much look forward to the reduction of gasoline taxes by 10 cents per litre and reducing business taxes as stated by Mr. Ford during the election campaign,” said Bourgon. “These tax relief measures will make driving more affordable and reduce costs for auto dealers.

Our Association prides itself on working with all political parties at Queen’s Park. We will continue working with the Ontario NDP and Liberals on issues that matter to auto dealers that generate and facilitate over 77,000 jobs across Ontario.”
