Burnaby, B.C. store celebrates VW culture in style.
More than 600 Volkswagen customers and enthusiasts descended upon OpenRoad VW in Burnaby, B.C. to celebrate modern VW culture at the second annual OpenRoad VW Sunset Party on August 12th.
OpenRoad’s summer party featured a full size beach volleyball court along with an impressive display of vintage VW Vans and collector VW Beetles. Guests were also treated to an array of gourmet foods, warm weather drinks, and beach tunes.
“Trucking in 110 tons of sand for our beach volleyball court was a little crazy, but to be honest it was a lot of fun,” said Ben Lovie, General Manager of OpenRoad VW. “The staff all chipped in and helped spread the sand with rakes and shovels a few days before the event and we have had staff volleyball games throughout the week. We also keep the sand around for an extra week to host another party for the local VW club the following weekend. It’s a party we intend on doing every year. We’ll likely mix up the theme a bit, but a celebration of VW on the West Coast will stay true.”
