10th generation Accord polarizes opinion.

Honda has introduced the world to the 2018 Honda Accord, which comes to market later this year. The world debut event took place in Detroit and can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/honda.

The 10th-generation Accord is new from the ground up and boasts a lighter and more rigid body structure, an advanced new chassis design, two all-new, high-torque direct-injected and turbocharged engines, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and a new generation of Honda’s two-motor hybrid technology.

“We are redefining the Honda Accord for a new generation of buyers by bringing something unexpected that challenges the idea of what a mainstream sedan can be” said, Jean Marc Leclerc, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada. “Even as we advance core values like great driving dynamics, safety and efficiency, the distinctive design of this all-new 2018 Honda Accord will help it appeal to both head and heart in equal measure.”

The new Accord features a longer wheelbase (+55mm), a lower overall height (-15mm) and wider (+10mm) body, wider wheel tracks (+5mm. front, +20mm rear), a shortened overall length (-10mm) and lower, sportier seating position (-25mm front and -20mm back).

Three new powerplants will drive the new Accord. A 192-hp 4-cylinder 1.5-litre direct-injected turbo, a 252-hp 2.0-litre direct-injected turbo, and a hybrid coupled to a 2.0-litre engine.

As for the design—it seems to be polarizing opinion online with Honda fans and owners either loving or hating it. Time will tell if the new look will translate into sales success at the dealership level.
