Mirka has announced the addition of its new “ultra-flexible” hand sanding sheets for contours and edges to its Novastar abrasive range—the Novastar Flex.
The Novastar abrasive range was first introduced in 2018, with the new flexible sheets being its latest addition. The new products are available for order, since their release to the market in September.
“With the new Novastar Flex sheets, the superior flexibility allows you to sand any challenging shape or hard to reach areas with a light touch,” says Ulf-Peter Åstrand, Business Sector Manager for Automotive Refinishing.
As stated by the company, the newly released abrasives are designed to tackle all shapes and curves that cannot be reached with machine sanding.
Åstrand notes that hand sanding continues to play a key role in autobody shops. “Modern cars have complex contours and lines which are not only difficult to reach with a sander, but you run the risk of sanding through the clear coat in the edges if you’re not careful. With the new Novastar Flex sheets, you can sand any challenging shape with a light touch.”
The new Novastar Flex sheets were designed to be primarily user-friendly, according to Åstrand. “Colour-coded grits, centre perforation and grip backing makes the sheets easy to use. Our products are always tested by customers before launch and all of the above received positive feedback from users.”
The other crucial point considered during the development of the product was delivering performance. “What our customers most appreciate is the fine scratch pattern finish and long lifetime of the new Novastar Flex sheets,” says Åstrand.
Mirka has also released new hand pads in two different sizes to match the Novastar Flex sheets. Åstrand states that the pad aids in creating a more even surface. “The sheets won’t break or wrinkle when folded but using them on a soft hand pad makes sanding even smoother.”
