The Skills Ontario Competition at the Congress Centre in Etobicoke, Ontario, May 6-8, 2019 was huge… filled with masses of students and interested parties (about 35,0000!)

The first day from Public Schools and the second day from High Schools and Post-Secondary Schools. The Congress Centre was filled! A real buzz of excitement was in the air and all 2,400 competitors were ready for action! On the third day, the Competition winners were announced and medals given out.

All the competitions taking place were very interesting, but the Auto Service and Autobody/Car Painting sectors were our focus.

The winners in Auto Service, Secondary School were: 1st Caleb Rose, Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic DSB; 2nd Mitch Black, District School Board of Niagara and 3rd Ivan-joy Ponrajah, Toronto Catholic DSB.

Auto Service, Post-Secondary winners were: 1st Thomas Phan, Centennial College; 2nd Peter Nigh, Fanshawe College and 3rd Jordan Ball, Algonquin College.

In the car painting competition, two ladies collected the Gold Medals! In Car Painting, Secondary School, the winners were: 1st Evelyn Torres, Toronto District School Board (DSB); 2nd Aaron Walker, Toronto dsb, and 3rd Liam Alford, Limestone dsb.

In the post-secondary competition, the winners were: 1st Catherine Mathewson, Centennial College; 2nd Tyler Kikkert, Fanshawe College and 3rd Mark Raftis, Fanshawe College.

Autobody Repair Secondary School winners were: 1st Jordan Johnson, Toronto dsb, and 2nd Matt Mack, Simcoe County dsb.

And the Post-Secondary School winners were: 1st Nick Stanov, Fanshawe College;

2nd Gurdeep Dhaliwal, Centennial College and 3rd Tom Kearney, Algonquin College.

It was a fantastic competition and for being chosen to be in the events, all the students were winners!
