A group of 25 students attended the Automotive Customer Service and Paint and Collision Tour and Training program as part of their curriculum at Brimell Toyota and CSN – Brimell Paint & Collision Center, on Thursday, May 2 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

The student group came from the Tropicana Employment Centre (TEC), a division of Tropicana Community services to attend the program, the 10th such group to do so over the years. More than 500 students/participants have attended the “Automotive Customer Service” programs so far. Mohammad (Dr. Shah) Shahzad, Manager, Client and Community Relations at Brimell Toyota, exclusively designs and organizes these programs. Participants also get the opportunity to tour the entire dealership to observe and learn from the company’s live and modern automotive operations: Brimell Toyota collision training program.

Brimell Toyota, which is currently celebrating 50 years of business, has been working with local automotive schools, community training and employment centres across GTA for several years now. The shortage of automotive skilled workforce has prompted the group to reach out to local schools in order to inspire and encourage young blood to join the automotive sector. Brimell Toyota has also been offering educational support to local college and university students and foreign delegates on automotive research projects, since 2004.

The training program on May 2 kick-started with a short introduction by Dr. Shah who welcomed the participants to the facility. He moved on to a discussion of the importance and future scope of automotive talented professionals in the Automotive Sales, F&I, Service, Parts and Collision Repairs industries. He also delivered his concise training course on “Automotive Customer Service” which was designed exclusively for TEC students. At the end of the classroom training program, all participants received handouts.

Post-lunch, students paid a short visit to the Sales, F&I, Service and Parts departments as part of the Brimell Toyota Operations Educational Tour. The participants then embarked on an inclusive tour of CSN – Brimell Paint and Collision Operations with Richard Marsh, Manager, Paint & Collision Center. The aim of this tour was to let them observe and learn from a modern live auto body and collision damage repair operations. A Q&A session was held to gather feedback and receive suggestions from the students. The eventful day ended with Brimell Academy’s certificate presentations. The company’s Customer Satisfaction team thanked the students for selecting The Brimell Toyota for training and educational tour.

By the end of the program, these students were able to understand the basic operation of an automotive dealership operation, including sales, F&I, service, parts and collision repair. They gained knowledge from the live Brimell automotive operations, particularly the CSN Brimell Paint & Collision Repair Operations. They were able to categorize the many career opportunities within this segment of the automotive industry. Brimell Toyota believes that the participants are now equipped to achieve a better career in the Paint and Collision segments.

Tropicana Community Services is a non-profit employment centre, serving the Scarborough community since 1988. TEC is a division of Tropicana Community Services, a United Way member agency that provides counselling, youth leadership, educational, daycare, recreational and employment services.
