Axalta Coating Systems has recently announced that artist Peter Maier’s unique work of art “Stingray” will be exhibited in Axalta’s Customer Experience Centre.

“Stingray” which is valued at $250,000, will be on display in the Centre’s lobby through spring of 2020.

Maier, a world-renowned artist is famous for creating “impossibly real” art. His pieces feature automobiles, animals, people and products. Maier uses automotive coatings in fine art and is the only artist known to do so. His works of art are created by using just eight colours. A unique layering style used by Maier allows him to achieve additional colours.

Since 1993, he has been using Axalta’s Cromax waterborne coatings in his art pieces. Maier has been partnering with Axalta for a long time now. He approached the company when he had been serving ad Senior Automotive Designer for Cadillac, Pontiac and Chevrolet Motor Divisions of General Motors (GM). Maier decided to pursue his passion for art full-time when he left GM in 1980. His work is currently showcased in galleries all around the work.
