CARSTAR has raised over $500,000 in 2018 to help fight cystic fibrosis.

The amount raised for aiding cystic fibrosis research, care and advocacy, far exceeds the network’s annual charitable goal.

The CARSTAR network, its vendor and insurance partners as well as the communities it serves have all contributed towards this achievement. CARSTAR organises car washes, ball hockey tournaments, gala events, golf tournaments, silent auctions, charity walks and car shows during the course of the year. The proceeds from these events go to Cystic Fibrosis Canada and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in the U.S. Generous support towards the cause at CARSTAR’s annual North American Momentum conference helped raise the large figure in 2018.

“CARSTAR and its partners are a shining example of the impact that can be made through corporate philanthropy,” says Kelly Grover, President and CEO, Cystic Fibrosis Canada. “In a single evening at its annual gala, CARSTAR raised an incredible $200,000—this is in addition to CARSTAR’s year-round unwavering commitment to ending cystic fibrosis. The funds raised by CARSTAR will help us get one step closer to finding a cure for this disease and on behalf of those living with cystic fibrosis, thank you for your generosity and dedication.”

CARSTAR took up the cause 20 years ago after a franchise partner’s granddaughter was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.  CARSTAR’s commitment to cystic fibrosis and the funds raised for the same have increased ever since. CARSTAR has raised nearly $3.7 million in Canada so far and strives to continue accelerating its fundraising momentum in the U.S.

“Our commitment to fundraising for cystic fibrosis research, care and advocacy runs deep within our corporate culture at CARSTAR, as many of us have heard touching stories from families and those affected by cystic fibrosis first hand,” explains Michael Macaluso, President, CARSTAR. “To say that these stories are motivating would be an understatement, because the strength demonstrated by these individuals is unimaginable and we want to do what we can to help make the fight against Cystic Fibrosis a little easier for them.”

CARSTAR’s innovative programs such as the SGI CANADA partnership that forwards a portion of all recycled parts sales in Alberta to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, also helped in exceeding its annual fundraising target. CARSTAR is already planning fundraising campaigns for 2019 and hopes to surpass expectations again.
