On September 27, just prior to CCIF Edmonton 2017, the Canadian Collision Industry Forum hosted a Career Day in Alberta’s capital.

The aim was to take students enrolled in St. Joseph High School’s Autobody program to visit five premier collision centres in the greater Edmonton area. These consisted of Fix Auto Edmonton North, Distinctive Auto Works, Speedy Collision West, CARSTAR Edmonton South and CSN – Reflections Auto Body.

At each location, students were given a tour of the facilities, accompanied by class teacher and I-CAR Instructor Stefano Liessi, along with members of CCIF’s Steering Committee as well as associated media and industry professionals.

Gaining insight

The students were encouraged to ask questions and also took part in demonstrations, including a virtual spray painting exercise. Feedback from the students demonstrated that many of them were not aware of the level of professionalism and advancement present in today’s collision repair industry and they found the day to be a very significant milestone in their professional development.

The day, which culminated in a visit to the collision repair facilities at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) Patricia Campus proved highly successful and will pave the way for future events across the country. [wds id=”581″]
