The 28th Annual Ontario Skills Competition was held May 1-3 at the Toronto Congress Centre in Etobicoke, Ont. near Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. Over 2,300 students from schools across Ontario competed in 68 different trade and technology categories.

In the Autobody Repair secondary competitions, the winners were Caleb Fitchett of Limestone DSB (gold), Noah Gommel of Toronto DSB Danforth CTI (silver) and Tyler McNamee Halton of DSB (bronze). In the post-secondary Autobody repair competitions, the winners were Colin Bailey, a Centennial College Danforth grad (gold), and Nicholas Denny of Algonquin College (silver).

In the Car Painting secondary competitions, the winners were Catherine Matthewson, a Centennial College Danforth grad (gold), Maggie Friesen of Fanshawe College (Silver) and Kyle Mordy of Algonquin College (bronze). In the secondary Car Painting competition, the gold medalist was Matthew Norris of Toronto DSB (Danforth CTI).

The gold medalists from each of the provincial competitions will have the opportunity to advance to the National Skills Canada Competition held in June in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
