Chief has introduced a new mobile cabinet equipped with a counterweighted boom for its Heavy-Duty Rivet Gun. By taking some of the rivet gun weight off the technician’s shoulders, Chief’s Heavy-Duty Rivet Gun Cabinet helps technicians operate the gun more easily so they can work longer, with less fatigue and physical strain.
The compact footprint of the new wheeled cabinet has a modest 24 ½-inch by 34-inch (62 cm X 86,4 cm) footprint (handles included) that is perfect for workshops. It features a sliding rivet gun tray and enough space for the pressure intensifier. The five sliding drawers provide ample storage for rivet tool kits, clamps and rivets.
“The next wave of vehicles is incorporating more high-strength steel, requiring the addition of new joining equipment in workshops with limited space that are already overcrowded,” states Mickey Swartz, Vice-President of International Business Development/Global Product Management for Chief. “Chief focused on both of these issues with our new cabinet design to make our new Heavy-Duty Rivet Gun easier to handle and use.”
The output of the Chief Heavy-Duty Rivet Gun is nearly twice that of the company’s standard rivet gun, enabling body technicians to use it to install rivets in the strongest steels, including Usibor. The mobile hydraulic tool produces 10 metric tons of compressive force and eight metric tons of tension force to retract the punching tool from sheeted metal at the push of a button. It also features a control dial that allows users to program pressure and control output force to the desired levels.
