BASF’s R-M Brand will be showcasing its ONYX HD waterborne paint on an electric concept car at this year’s European Coatings Show (ECS), from April 4-6, 2017.
Taking place at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre in Nuremberg, Germany, this year’s ECS will include a display from Covestro that features an innovative electric vehicle concept.
Unique features include the use of wraparound transparent polycarbonate for the car’s greenhouse, as well as innovative lighting including holographic projection. The car’s striking R-M ONYX HD paint finish is a specially formulated orange hue.
“The effect of orange colour is to draw attention and create a sense of presence,” said Mark Gutjahr, BASF’s Head of Automotive Color Design Europe. “At the same time, the colour is warm and passionate, expressing energy. To create a special optical effect, we used a metallic luminous orange, to complement the car’s black and anthracite grey accessories.”
