Sika Automotive has launched a new SikaBaffle-230 High-Expanding Acoustic Tape for collision repair centres and body shops.
SikaBaffle-230 is a rubber-based, highly-expandable elastomeric tape for sealing and acoustic treatments in automotive body shops. Its reduced mass and high expansion help enable lightweight vehicle initiatives, combined with enhanced performance properties including high levels of adhesion, wide substrate compatibility, and superior water sealing and acoustic performance.
Elastomeric tapes are widely used in the automotive industry to seal small hollow body cavities and represent multiple benefits for OEMs such as shorter design time, ease of application and low investment cost.
SikaBaffle-230 is designed to provide optimum sealing for body cavities. Once expanded, it remains soft and provides outstanding sound absorption characteristics. This product is fully compatible with body shop automotive treatments and keeps its expansion properties over a broad temperature range.
Designed for ease of application and maximum versatility, it can be used anywhere on vehicle bodies, including wet areas. A high degree of application flexibility enables it to bond to a wide range of steel and aluminum substrates. Combined with reduced VOC emissions, SikaBaffle-230 is seen as the product of choice for sustainable solutions.
