Mitchell has announced the launch of its advanced artificial intelligence claims automation solution—Mitchell Intelligent Estimating.

With this new solution, an estimator need not write an estimate from scratch. Mitchell has created the estimating solution such that it predicts and fills-up all possible sections of the estimate. Additionally, the estimator also has the option to complete, review and approve a pre-written estimate. Mitchell explains that on the basis of photos of vehicle damage sent by a policyholder, repair facility or staff estimator, the new solution is designed to generate detailed auto physical damage estimates. Details of parts, operations and labour are also included in it.

This “efficient and highly-scalable” estimating solution brings together Mitchell’s claims technology, its proprietary collision repair data, artificial intelligence and decision support tools, according to the company.

The solution accepts photos through different sources, such as carrier mobile apps and repair facility photo capture tools. Mitchell’s Vehicle Damage Detection API analyzes the photos, after which the company’s proprietary Intelligent Translation service processes them. Google’s expertise in computer vision, and the processing power, security and reliability of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are leveraged by Mitchell for its advanced machine learning capabilities.

“This new transformative estimating solution demonstrates both Mitchell’s key focus on innovation as well as our commitment to embracing the most respected domain experts to accelerate the pace of claims automation,” says Olivier Baudoux, Head of Global Product & Artificial Intelligence for Mitchell International. “The Mitchell Intelligent Estimating solution is the latest display of our commitment to deliver leading-edge solutions and better outcomes for our clients, and underscores Mitchell’s commitment to advancing one of the most complex industry opportunities.”

“Google Cloud is honoured to work with Mitchell to enable a complete, end-to-end automated estimating solution for top carriers,” says Mikey Kindler, Head of Machine Learning Solutions, Google Cloud. “We have found Mitchell to be an exceptional partner to help bring images to life using the latest machine learning. Mitchell’s unique editorial and estimating expertise enables a true modern automated claims solution.”

Mitchell has also announced that it intends to build future cloud-based insurance solutions on GCP.
