Mitchell has announced a partnership with Drew Technologies, an Opus IVS Company.

This partnership enables Drew Technologies’ scanning and diagnostic technology and services will be available through the Mitchell Diagnostics system. The additional enhancements allow repair shops to access scanning and diagnostic services that are based on each OEM’s factory diagnostic systems and software. Besides this, they provide technical assistance from OEM-trained experienced technicians.

According to the company, Mitchell Diagnostics is a comprehensive diagnostic system that has been specifically created to aid collision repair and automotive claims processes. Offering a more comprehensive coverage for vehicle repair, this partnership brings together the technologies of both companies. This is especially relevant due to the challenging nature of today’s vehicle repairs since over half of current vehicles contain advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

The enhancements added due to the new partnership allows Mitchell Diagnostics to deliver a complete solution to meet most scanning and diagnostic repair requirements in a single package to collision repairers. Technicians can not only assist carriers to control costs but can also optimize production throughput.

Partnering with Drew Technologies adds existing All Makes scanning capabilities to Mitchell Diagnostics through Bosch Technologies. Consequently, some of the capabilities available to Mitchell customers are as follows:

  • On demand OEM scanning for major OEMs
  • J-2534 reprogramming
  • Dynamic ADAS recalibrations
  • On-demand remote technical assistance from experienced OEM-trained technicians
  • Patented documentation and workflow process
  • A record of the scans/diagnostics that includes information of all repairs performed on the vehicle in case of a claim

“Drew has a well-earned reputation as an industry leader in OEM diagnostics,” said Debbie Day,” Mitchell’s Executive Vice President and General Manager. “Mitchell’s Freedom platform was designed to deliver the industry an open set of solutions linked with best-in-class partners.  The new Drew Technologies partnership gives our customers a complete suite of diagnostic solutions and is a great example of our core value of partnering well–in this case, to enable collision repairers with the most fully-featured solution on the market–and continues Mitchell’s support of proper and safe repairs.”

“We are pleased to partner with Mitchell, a leader in the collision and auto claims technology space and a company that has been an innovation leader in diagnostics for collision repairers, to leverage our latest technology into a Mitchell offering,” said Brian Herron, President, Drew Technologies. “We look forward to working together to further our work in providing collision repair shops with the most advanced diagnostics capabilities, helping them to more efficiently and accurately complete diagnostic scans, repairs, and reprogramming in-house.”

According to Mitchell, its new MD-OEM diagnostic tool complies with the requirements of GM Collision Repair Network, since it uses GM’s proprietary GDS-2 software on the device directly at the vehicle’s location when scanning GM vehicles. Similarly, it also uses the factory diagnostic system and software of other OEs, delivering scanning and diagnostic services for the OEMs. Repair shops can acquire the MD-OEM as a stand-alone service or bundle it with MD-200 and MD-350 diagnostic tools available under the Mitchell Diagnostics umbrella.
